LET me blow your mind. Ready? We are approaching the 20 year anniversary of Toy Story. Twenty years. Yup. Mind = blown, right?! Kids’ movies have improved vastly in the past 20 years, and there are lots more of them. So there’s a rich vein to mine when choosing the top 10 best kids’ movies of all time. Be warned, though, I have a few controversial picks on my list. What are your absolute must-have kids’ movies that never fail on a rainy day when you fire up the

Whew! And with a huge sigh of relief, much discarded wrapping paper, lots of batteries, alan keys and fiddly assembly, Christmas is concluded for another year. How was your big day? Ours was an unqualified success. The work that goes into Christmas day, all the preparation and planning, leaves me exhausted on Boxing Day. The Test cricket is a welcome relief as I lie comatose on the couch, punctuating the hours with random, sporadic bursts of tidying up (or blogging). Continue reading

Did the Big 4 North Star live up to my high expectations? Could anything have lived up to that? Or did it fall as flat as the tent without its support poles. Did it rain? Did we stay dry? Well, quite simply this trip was… Continue reading
We’ve decided it’s time to embrace our inner bushman and take the kids camping. The idea of me reconnecting with my inner bushwoman is pretty laughable, but I do have fond memories of camping as a kid, so I have some very noble ideas about creating similar fond memories for my own children to look back on. Continue reading
In this, my first post for 2011 – marking the beginning of my fourth year of blogging – I’m struggling to write a post devoid of new year’s resolutions or pithy phrases about seizing the moment. I’m not desperately trying to introduce new, impossible-to-maintain habits. I’ve done that already. The second half of last year was spent improving my eating and exercise. So, no clichéd resolutions for me. Continue reading
So our big adventure these school holidays was a trip to Movie World on the Gold Coast. The kids had a cousin visiting, a five-year-old boy, and we thought we’d tackle a theme park. None of us had ever been before and we were all pretty excited.
